Pavarotti's Life in the Limelight

Luciano Pavarotti, a native of Modena, Italy, truly earned the meaning of his first name through the life he lived. Luciano, from the Latin word "lucidus" meaning "full of light" has become such an appropriate description of his brilliant voice, his career and his heart.

Pavarotti was blessed with his father's talent, who although worked as a baker, was actually a tenor in his own right. His father may not have made it big like Luciano did, but his voice actually inspired the young Luciano to train his voice for seven years before committing on this journey.

He started his opera career in 1961 immediately after a successful performance in front of an amazed audience which also earned him the much-coveted Concorso Internazionale. When he felt the exuberance of the crowd after his songs, he decided from then on that this path is the one he was going to take. That was what he did-from 1961 until 2006, he illuminated various stages of countries such as his hometown, United Kingdom, Hungary, Netherlands and Spain, to name a few. He was also popular for the numerous concerts which were shown via the television.

Luciano Pavaroti became famous that he was even regarded as the "King of the High Cs." His high tenor voice was what made him remarkable that he became one of the most famous tenors to this day. Also, even if he was cut for the opera-loving ears, his magic transcended it gracefully towards the popular music.

Pavarotti was also gifted with a kind heart. He made a lot of contributions and donations to charity. Together with his celebrity friends Eric Clapton, Celine Dion and many others, he generously gave to victims of earthquakes, exploitation, etc., and even embarked on social projects like the one in Bosnia, which was to help other artists develop their craft.

In September 2007, he succumbed to pancreatic cancer but his life, which made the Italian flag proud, will still continue its brightness. The way he lived his life will continue to light the path of budding artists to see their way to their dream by making Pavarotti their inspiration.
